French Post Office.New Insurance for Int Registrated letter

Post by dragsamou » Thu Mar 19, 2009 7:38 am

Hi Members.
As French Post office has created a new insurance for Registrated Letters International, I share with you:
http://www.laposte.fr/courrierinternati ... e3336f966c
Recommandation
Envoi
The French Postal Service has created another type of insurance for Registrated Letter, years I was waiting for that.
So now you have 2 Choices:
Registrated Letter R1=Insurance is 45 Euros(60.55$) in case of any problems
Registrated Letter R2=Insurance is 150 Euros(201.79) in case of any problems
Price depends on the country you send to, weight, and if you send the Registrated Letter as a Document or Goods. For any others transactions involving more than 150 Euros, others shipping ways are possible but expect to pay the price, as French Postal service is amazingly expensive.

Hi Members.

This topic will not be complete, if while checking the prices for Normal International shipping, I didn't realized that now, you do have 2 options:
Documents or Goods.

To give you an idea to send a Normal letter up to 20 Grams to the US:
Documents=0.85 Cts
Marchandise=5 Euros

Registrated Letter with Insurance R1(45 Euros)
Document : 4,85 €
Marchandise : 9,00 €

Registrated Letter with Insurance R2(105 Euros)
Document : 5,85 €
Marchandise : 10,00 €

Poor French Post Office that only makes 537 Millions of Euros of benefits in 2008(Down 40%) now the prices to send to International have skyrocketed, and they raise all the prices for National >:-(

Cheaper in Belgium than in France (10 % roughly).

Belgian prices are outrageous at the Post Office.

I just went on The Belgium Post Office website, way cheaper than France. On the top of it, you don't have to declare any cards sent in the World as Merchandise as we do have to do now in France, not mentioning that outside Europe, fillings forms is an Obligation now.

Check again registered mail, national...

In france, you pay according to the weight, in Belgium according to the weight AND size.

Large enveloppe, below 50 g : 1,08 Euros sent to Belgium...

Just a min. Your talking "registered" mail? US first class letter, registered for a value of $5.00 from Colorado Springs to NY is $11.22. The registration fee for anywhere in the US is a flat $10.00.

That IS expensive!
Compare that to the € 0,44 we pay in the Netherlands, which is an even bigger country (although by only 36% (41526 sq.km. vs. 30528 sq.km.).
And until a year ago it was only € 0,39 (which it had been for many years (since 2000 or 2001), so even before the euro (then it was fl. 0,85 which is € 0,3857 or € 0,39 rounded up to the nearest cent).

(Belgium isn't THAT small! Actually there are 62 countries smaller than Belgium, see:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publication ... 7rank.html)

(that list shows 110 smaller territories, but only 62 of those are independant countries)
