Free Comic Books?!

Post by tetsuo42 » Sat May 03, 2008 3:31 pm

I suppose this only applies to comic book retailers in the United States - maybe Canada, I'm not sure.

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/

Taken from the site:
"What is Free Comic Book Day?

Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free* to anyone who comes into their stores.

* Each retailer will decide the guidelines for receiving comics."

Pretty simple huh?

There's also a free games day that started up maybe 1 year ago.

As I pulled up to one of the shops I went to today, I was greeted by about five people dressed up in Star Wars costumes! That's something you don't see too often outside of conventions. The shop even had two local artists doing sketches and signing comics.

I managed to pick up some truly random comics I would never buy. Heck, I might give them away to my friends' kids. The ones I picked were Jughead, Little Titans (mini Teen Titans!), Walt Disney's Gyro Gearloose, and an EC Comics "sampler." One shop only gave away one book, the second one I went to had a limit of three.

Of course there were the typical superhero comics - X-men, Superman, etc, but lord knows I have too many of those books anyways.

Happy Free Comic Book Day!

LOL, I made a mistake too: I'm looking for a signed Teen Titans No. 1, not Little Titans #-o
