Member Forum Names
Hi everybody,
I always wondered what some membernames stand for and how they were created.
So here is my story:
Equinox is the latin word fort he day in the year, where everywhere in the world the day and the night have 12 hours, it stands for my sign of zodiac; the Capricorn that is very balanced. 76 is just the year of my birth. First time I used it was on Ebay, but the names equinox and equinox76 were already gone, so I created Equi-Nox76.
Another name I use often is Nimrod (the legendary Hunter).
Chris

Here is the story of mine :
Magic is a trading card game that was created in 1993 and that I really enjoy collecting.
Belgium is a small country made of 3 communities : Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. The people of Belgium is good-living, easy to live with, but they seem not to be able to get on well with each other lately. They have a good sense of humour and like both chocolate and beer.

My story is a little more complicated.
Gary_a_ Getty is for "Garibaldi a Gettisburg" (Garibaldi to Gettisburg)
It's the title of a book wrote by an Italian writer, Pierfrancesco Prosperi.
It's a Uchronia Book or Alternative History book.
It tells the alternative story of Giuseppe Garibaldi, "the Hero of Two Worlds", which in addition to battle the Italian War of Indipendence, also fought in the American Civil War together with Union. (Of course this does not happen in reality although there were contacts with Lincoln cfr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuseppe_Garibaldi)
I'm a big fan of fantasy, science fiction and alternate history books; i like this book a lot, so i've used the title for my nick name ......

Haha, mine is pretty easy, my eBay name a little more vague.
Yawgmoth and 07 - yawg07
Yawgmoth, the great evil, the ineffable, pretty much the coolest character in magic.
07 ... for whatever reason is my favorite number, and yes the "0" has to be there.
Speak and 07 - speak07
The 07 here is the same, but SPEAK is a graffiti tag I used for about a year.
It was one of my favorites, so I figured a username with it would be cool.
I mostly use speak07 on non-magic websites.

My cat, Ajax, weighed over 25 lbs. (11.34 kilograms)
He has been on a 'diet' for the last 5 years and now weighs in at a thin 14 lbs. (6.35 kilograms) Unfortunately, his skin remained the same stretched out size and he still looks fat. But it's not true.

Stealing the answer from my old blog...
As to how Gryfalia (a variation on Gyrfalcon that is stunningly easier to pronounce) came about, we have to step into the Way Back Machine, back to a time where I lived the simple life in Lake Zurich, Illinois (a far NW Chicago burb). It was my junior year in High School (around 1986 or so) and I was in the basement of one of my friends, playing Starflight. Oh yes, and a classic it was (Starflight). Ok, I just found that link and, well, holy cow, that’s a lot of information about an old school game.
Anyway, we’re sitting in his basement, desperately trying to come up with the name for our spaceship. These kind of choices are important, honestly, because if you pick something like Enterprise you’re marking yourself for life as a Trekkie geek. Yet if you pick something like the Achilles, well, you’re still a geek and have delusions of grandeur to boot. So I, being a well-read little dweeb who used to read the encyclopedia for fun, mentioned the Gyrfalcon (being both a cool name and a cool bird). My friend (whose name has slipped my mind..might have been Jason) modified it a bit and came out with ‘Gryfalia’.

Mine's pretty easy I guess, I am a huge rock & roll junkie, & the person I have to blame is Frank Zappa. When I was 17 I bought an album of his (Sheik Yerbouti), & there was no turning back...
There are a lot of Zappa freaks out there, but by using his middle initial, v, I have been lucky. So, it stuck, first using it in my Hotmail address.
If you think I have a lot of Magic cards, you should see my record collection!
P.S. My quote at the bottom of my page comes from a Zappa song as well.
