New carrying case
So I had an old CD carrying case from my DJ days, but nobody carries CDs around in jewel cases anymore, so this case has been out of use for a long time. So I decided to re-purpose it as a travel case for magic cards. Here was the result:
The 8 boxes are made of 1/4" oak plywood, and were cut on a 30 Watt laser cutter. The fit *perfectly* in the old case, and hold about the same as an 800 count box each. More detailed pictures of the entire process are photo documented here http://www.apathyhouse.com/random/laserbox/
These road cases are very rugged, and built to be tossed around and even freight shipped. The cards and packs will not fall out of the boxes when the case is upright or upside down.

Wow - that is very nice =D>
I'm always happy to see when people put as much effort into protecting/displaying their collection as they did into acquiring it
Thanks for sharing.
Take it easy,

Thanks for all the compliments!
yvel: Next time I'm in France, we will draft :)
Gary: The process actually required very few traditional tools. The pieces were all cut out of plywood with a laser cutter, I just had to assemble them. That required glue and some clamps. From there is was just sanding and staining!
psrex: Connemara is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it!
