Glad to see someone put up some "normal" cards that they are proud of. Some of the stuff on here is so esoteric that it will disappear into binders/vaults and never be seen again or only enjoyed by a few.

Now these can be sleeved and played with pride.

Good work.

I bet this is the only forum in the world where you can see a Beta Signed Mox Ruby and think "Meh...". Then you see white backed artist sketch and think about it twice, to end thinking "Fabulous".

This is called the Librarities Syndrome.

Hey All,

Well, like others here I don't post my new pickups all too often. Mostly this is because they either aren't too impressive or I simply haven't made any (though I'd love to, lol). That being said I got something in the mail this week that simply needed to be shared.

As many of you know, I love to collect sketched AP's. Recently I was in contact with Joe Ziolkowski. While he's never done any MtG cards, he did do a couple of Vampire cards back in the day. I inquired of him if he'd sign my cards, and maybe if he'd do a couple of AP sketches for me. He said no problem and fire away. As is typical with artists, he took his time (around 5 months). No complaints... he did have the holidays and a baby during that stretch, lol. On Thursday I got my 2 signed cards back, along with these two AP's...

During the stretch when Joe was working on them he was in contact with me. He mentioned that he had trouble coming up with concepts for what to do on the backs. Eventually he said he got ideas and plugged away on them. Here's what he finally came up with, and what I saw when I flipped them over...

Closeups of each...

To say I was blown away would be a gross understatement. I don't think I've ever seen anything more impressive on an AP - and I've seen a lot of great things over the years!!! The level of detail is incredible, especially when you factor in such a small surface. These "miniature paintings" just may be the coolest new thing in my entire collection =D>

I shared these with my wife and daughters... they were impressed of course, but not like me. I bring them here because I hope some of you might marvel over how truly impressive they are, like I do.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for letting me share :)

Take it easy,
Jared

Knowing how difficult it usually is to get something better than a scribble from most MTG artists these days, that is both impressive and admirable.

He must have put a lot of time on those. I wanted sth. similar,, but gave the idea up immediately when the artist asked a few hundred dollars. With which I could get a cool painting.

Glad you have sth. both new and cool.

Enjoy !
