Probably the stuff Len didn't want from his purchase :-P

Seriously... nice stuff. It boggles my mind to think how much $$$ some MtG collectors can throw around these days. Back when I first got into the game in '93 most players could barely make rent (lol).

Brian bought this as an investment. So to say, this is not exactly collecting, but this piece of collection is pretty impressive...

The dream of some Vintage and Legacy players...

I just need one Island and one Plains for my promo collection. Scarcity (and EDH) is driving the price up :-(

impressive

I counted 52 Guru Swamps there, with only around 30 of the others and no Plains... Maybe the seller used only dual lands and Karakas for his/her white mana. It's also always nice to see a good amount of alpha and beta duals in nice shape.

It's nice to see some collections people buy here, as I have balked twice at buying some of the more impressive collections I've encountered. As at the time I didn't have the funds to shell out around 30k$. Not to mention how my wife would have reacted. Those might have been good buys six years back, but currently I'm happier with our house.

My wife was a little hesitant but she knows I've done well with cards in the past and she trusts me. I could have paid off our mortgage with the funds for this collection but I'd rather pay the 4.875% to the bank and pick this up. Collection in total is pretty crazy like I sad this is a small piece.
BGS 9+ Alpha set 282/295 (97.29%) Avg 9.41
BGS 9.5+ Beta set 283/302 (93.71%) Avg 9.58
BGS 9.5+ Arabian set 35/92 (38.04%) Avg 9.62
BGS 9.5+ Antiquities set 82/100 (82%) Avg 9.64
BGS 9.5+ Legends set 279/310 (90.00%) Avg 9.61

when it comes to gurus I feel there are likely a bunch of hoards of them around. I know one of the dudes that works for CFB was trying to pick up 40 of each. I've got ~20 of each and I always run into people telling me their friend has a ton of them (when they see mine). Would be interesting to know how many guru are actually out there.

I remember a full powered cube on Salvation with 40 or 50 each and several similar or close collections. I doubt that I could bring myself to pay the price which is nowadays set. Summer basics, which are about twice the price atm, look much more appealing to me in terms of the price - actual rarity - ratio.

Regarding the collection - obviously insane pick up, in all the years passed by I do not remember anything that could compare. I really hope it pays off for you.

Gem Mint Alpha BL? Is that one of two?

Either way, congrats! Was that from the collection you bought?
