Re: Great Dalmuti MtG advertisement card?
My cinema club recently got a new copy of this game, and it contained the advertisement card. I'm unsure if the game was newly manufactured, or if it was simply sitting in inventory for a long time (my theory is the latter, as there were only older WotC logos on the box, rather than new WotC l...

Re: Issues between Wizards and Ed Beard Jr.
This is further demonstration that Jeremy Cranford is an idiot. How can art be 'too classic fantasy' in *the* classic fantasy card game? Variety is good, but I don't see variety in newer art as much as it simply being different from older art. For those who know things: was JC responsible for...

Re: a self-made card?
It looks pretty nice, until you note that the card name isn't in Magic Medieval. The number in the mana symbol is also a little oversize, and the P/T looks highly off.

Re: Oversized Time Vault
From the process snarke described a while back about how the sheets were prepared, resizing wouldn't be impossible, I think. They had film copies of each channel, so you could optically enlarge the image. It looks like what we have here, though, is only enlarged at the border (and thus i...

Re: Life Size Statues from WotC Store on eBay
The costs to produce that the seller describes are pretty insane ... why would you ever dump that much money into display pieces at a retail outlet? Though I suppose the margin on WotC product in a WotC store is pretty insane ... no way it costs $60 to print, wrap, and box a box, when you orde...

Here's a Google translation: http://google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hobbyjapan.co.jp%2Fmagic%2F&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8 Looks like something to the effect of 'thanks to all our regular customers for their patronage', then something about an event (tournament? an unexpected happening?)...

Re: Foil Kiki Jiki thank you gifts?
I generally use a knife when cracking boxes, but for stuff like draft I rip the pack open by the T with no problems (Teeth at the inside of the seam, and pull; takes the whole back of the wrapper off at once). Only reason that I crack boxes with a knife is because I generally keep a box worth of emp...

Re: Overprinted Royal Assassin/Demonic Hordes on E
fv_zappa/dry_cereal: That's exactly what I thought on seeing it. I was like 'wow, two rares!' then 'wait ... there's only 1 rare sheet ...' Still kinda a nifty effect, at least in that pic, of the hordes dancing around the assassin. The arts really fit together well. I wonder if you could do s...

Re: 3D cards at Worlds
I'm curious as to what the spacers are made out of. Is it just little blocks that go at strategic points between layers, or is it something else?

Re: 3D cards at Worlds
The one done with the DCI Balance was rather impressive; both in execution and in actually getting the cards to make it out of. As the article says, a 3D Lotus would look wicked ... too bad it would cost about as much as a Lotus to make (the sportscar)

Re: Some Fake Onslaught Boosters & Cards
Those are ... really terrible. The packs are getting more difficult to fake, which is good, what with the metallic colors being used in packs now (especially the tones used in Onslaught block wrappers, which aren't simply silver foil). Of course, if people can't get the crimp direction r...

Re: square cut oversized island
Looking at my 6x9 land packs, it looks like while its in a heat-sealed plastic wrapper, there is no crimping along the edge. You'd wind up with a wicked crush line on the top and bottom cards, though, if it was misaligned. I'd guess that the likelihood of such a pack getting into the wild is slim, t...

Re: Promo items - origin?
Got Threshold would make them definately Magic-related, I think. The word 'mana' is common enough in fantasy that I would call it generic geek apparel (apparently my credit card agrees, given the way its hopping out of my wallet ...)

Is it me, or does it seem slightly boneheaded to base a comic on a game, a tv show on a comic, and then wonder about a game to go with the tv show? Some people in advertising should be shot ...

Re: Question about s-chinese 5th
WotC is terrible about checking the templates, especially foreign sets. Makes for a slew of unique-ish cards, though, which isn't all bad for the import market :)
