Wow! Thanks, everyone, for all the replies. I think it's safe to say that these upside-down or inverted cards, while not exactly run-of-the-mill, are not unheard of. That's good to know - I was afraid I was going crazy or something. It's somehow depressing that in 16+ years of handling Magic cards, ...

Are the Mercadian Masques cards all foil with this issue (the one I have is), or are there regular ones as well?

Also - if anyone who collects such cards is interested in this one, make me an offer: -)

Thanks for the reply. Are they all Rares? Does it seem to be the case of a single sheet going through incorrectly, or several? Any idea?

$2000 for the Misdirection does seem a LITTLE steep :-) Although if there were ever a card whose name screams for being printed inverted...

Misprinted card with "upside-down" back?

I am hoping someone out there can give me an idea of just how special this is. Personally, I have been handling Magic cards since about when Antiquities came out, and I have NEVER seen this before myself. I have here in front of me a foil copy of Honor the Fallen (Mercadian Masques rare), in English...

gzeiger: The one on eBay wasn't mine, as I've not offered it (yet) and I was the one to open the pack. But, given the next post... Tha_Gunslinga: Thanks for that tidbit. Not as special as I initially thought. This reminds me of the misprinted foil Guildpact Thunderheads I had, where several letters ...

I didn't realize it was so "run of the mill". I've had crimped-edge cards, square-cut cards, off-center cards, lightly printed cards (where the black is more grey than black), etc....but I'd never seen anything like this before.

Have you ever seen a misprint like this?

I recently opened a pack of English Onslaught and found this misprinted Words of Worship...I have never seen a misprint like it, where the black-border looks like it got lifted and shifted somehow. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_BMJyuIZRU6Y/SZm7VFqSA8I/AAAAAAAAAE8/t4v8ccu_vbM/s512/ON_Words_of_Worship_Misprin...

Not as bad as I had feared - about half the German cards were 4th, half Revised/3rd. Thankfully the Lightning Bolt and Hypnotic Specter were among the Revised :-) I also discovered that many Italian cards I had previously (mis)-identified as 4th were actually Revised (including a Lightning Bolt)! So...

Thank you! I did (believe it or not) search the archives before posting my question. Maybe I didn't find it because I was searching for "Revised" and not "3rd Edition" SIGH. I'll know better for next time. Anyway, from a quick look through I think most/all of mine will turn out to be 4th Edition rat...

German white-bordered Revised vs. German 4th Edition

Hello! I am having trouble with something, and hope someone here can help out. I am aware that Revised was printed in German (and French & Italian) first as a black-bordered set in 1994, then reprinted as a white-bordered set. From what I have researched, the white-bordered ones have a 1995 copyrigh...

I just discovered that last night after I posted my original inquiry (the Firefox plug-in is amazing!). I haven't played with it enough yet to know how much to trust the information, but it is definitely something I'm looking at!

Thanks for the information. It's always a problem with pricing these things - remembering that just because a store is listing a card at a certain price, that doesn't mean they're necessarily going to get it! I didn't even see the recently ended one...I usually check those. D'oh! I must have been me...

Nemesis Foil Reverent Silence - why so expensive?

Hello, all - I'm hoping someone "in the know" out there can help solve a quandry for me. Many moons ago (so long ago I can't remember) I sold a Foil Reverent Silence from Nemesis (in English) for $0.75. I just obtained another and was getting ready to list it for sale. I checked (as I always do) for...
