During the production of Magic cards, errors occur. Usually these cards are destroyed but in some cases a few of them survive or they are even kept intentionally. Not all Prerelease cards without a Prerelease date are misprints. In some cases, the ink used for the date apparently has run out, thereby causing the date to be hardly recognizable. In case of real misprints, the date has not been printed on the card at all, and hence no stamp cards can be seen on the card. Due to the almost identical design of older prerelease cards, copies of these cards without a prerelease date are supposed to exist, but are indistinguishable to standard cards and hence not listed. This is the list of the different known variations that can be found on Misprinted Non-Standard Prerelease Error Cards: Back upside down and miscut Blurry date with no gold ink moderately overprinted back Dark printing (extremely) and Missing date Date with partial gold ink Date and symbol partial gold ink Date stamp on another card (regular and filler) Date stamp on the back Double stamped date Extra dark Extra date Extra date upside down Misplaced/shifted date in the text box Misplaced/shifted date in the art box Misplaced/shifted and upside down date Misplaced/shifted date slightly overprinted front and back Misplaced shifted date Misprinted with square corners Missing date Missing date and symbol Stamp overprinted (Slightly, moderately, greatly, the back of the card is affected as well) Stamp overprinted with spilled gold ink greatly overprinted back Stamp with no gold ink Stamp with spilled gold ink Triple stamped date From 1997 till 2007, Prerelease cards were only released in English. Starting in 2008 till 2009, they were printed in 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Starting in 2010 in 8 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Traditional Chinese. Starting in 2011 in 9 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Traditional Chinese. Starting in 2012 in 10 and 11 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Traditional Chinese. It was in 2000 that the First Prerelease Events Promos were printed in three dead languages for the Invasion block: 2000: Raging Kavu (Invasion) is printed in Latin. 2001: Questing Phelddagrif (Planeshift) is printed in Classical Greek. 2001: Fungal Shambler (Apocalypse) is printed in Sanskrit. The Odyssey block featured cards printed in non-Roman scripts: 2001: Stone-Tongue Basilisk (Odyssey) is printed in Arabic. 2002: Laquatus's Champion (Torment) is printed in Cyrillic. 2002: Glory (Judgment) is printed in Hebrew. In 2014, starting with the Khans of Tarkir block, Prerelease date could be either on any Rare or Mythic cards. 3 new known variations took place since that time: Date stamp in the wrong language Date stamp on an Uncommon.
